We are delighted to start 2019 on a high and tell you that we’ve achieved a Silver Better Health at Work Award!
The Better Health at Work Award recognises the efforts of employers in the North East in addressing health issues within the workplace and putting in place positive initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles that’s aimed at improving employee health.
The Silver accreditation follows our Bronze award last year and focuses on a more holistic view of the workplace and the health-related policies that are introduced. To achieve Silver level, our management staff and Better Health at Work Advocates have worked hard to develop schemes that give the whole team opportunity to improve their health while at work.
Talking about the Silver award our General Manager, Loraine Brunton, said: “The senior management team and Better Health at Work Advocates have worked extremely hard in achieving our Better Health at Work Silver award and I am so very proud of them! There’s been lots going on in the last year including a Bike to Work scheme, informative and engaged talks on physical health such as cancer screening awareness as well as mental health – hypnotherapist Andrew Flounders of Watson House in Morpeth provided a talk to staff about stress and anxiety management and staff were offered the opportunity to attend one to one sessions with Andrew.
Staff also participated in sponsored walks such as ‘Run For Care’ and the North East Memory Walk to help improve personal fitness while raising funds for worthy causes. Literature was also updated in staff rooms, with advice provided on healthy living menus, mental health, cancer prevention, dealing with suicide, managing alcohol intake, stopping smoking and holistic healthy living.
Loraine added: “Huge credit to the staff at Cramlington House and West Farm who have reacted so positively to our new initiatives and helped us reach the Silver level. We are now focused on going for gold as 2019 unfolds!”
