In ordinary times, we usually welcome through our doors an amazing pantomime performance from local entertainers. However, as the pandemic continues, we have had to do things a bit differently this year to ensure our residents were still able to enjoy their annual festive tradition.
This Christmas, we welcomed the Old Vic Theatre Company into Cramlington House, who provided an amazing virtual performance of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’. Delivering the performance free of charge, it was performed live in front of a virtual audience including our Cramlington House residents.
Commenting on the performance, our activities manager Kim Stubbs said: “How incredibly kind of the Old Vic Theatre Company to stream a free-of-charge live performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ so that our residents could watch and enjoy the show just like they would every other year. It was lovely to bring residents together to take part in the music and merriment of such an uplifting story.
“Everyone really enjoyed it and it was great to see smiles on our residents’ faces and watch them engage in the singing and dancing too! Huge thanks to The Old Vic Theatre Company for providing such a fantastic show.”
