Cramlington House residents were treated to a spot of retail therapy recently which they thoroughly enjoyed!
Organised by Alwinton Social Circle, a local community group that helps people to develop friendships in Cramlington and surrounding areas, residents and carers boarded a bus to Boundary Mills, a large department store in Shiremoor, North Tyneside, excited to enjoy a spot of shopping and some lovely lunch too.
Once they arrived, they spent several hours there perusing the aisles and shelves, buying a few things for themselves in the process, relaxed and happy in one another’s company.
Kim Stubbs, our wellbeing champion at Cramlington House, said: “Our day out to Boundary Mills was wonderful. Residents enjoyed the entire trip from beginning to end including the bus journey to Boundary Mills and home again.
“It was lovely to see how excited they were and very much looking forward to some shopping and a leisurely lunch too.
“Some of them bought a few things for themselves and also a couple of gifts for family members and were eager to take them home, wrap them and give them to their loved ones when they next visited. Everyone was smiling, relaxed and an enjoyable day was had by all.”
Local trips to shopping centres, cinema and community groups are a vital part of the care we provide at Craig Healthcare because of the physical, mental and social benefits they provide to our residents, whatever needs they may have.
Sheila Sergusson, one of the residents who went along to Boundary Mills, said: “It was great to get the bus to Boundary Mills – what a big place; I absolutely loved it! I bought myself some jewellery and also enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and sandwich too. We all had a great time and are looking forward to going back once we’ve saved up some more pennies!”
