Our West Farm residents enjoyed some live entertainment recently by well-known local singer, Deborah Taylor-Smith.
Abiding to strict social distancing guidelines, the Vera Lynn tribute singer serenaded our residents from outside the home, in our patio area with residents enjoying the show from the home’s lounge area.
Deborah sang a number of hits from the 1940s which the residents thoroughly appreciated because they brought back memories of their younger years of singing along to Vera in their kitchen, dancing to one of her songs at the local club or remembering what it was like to live through a world war from her very famous chart hit, ‘We’ll Meet Again’.
Zahra Karimi, our deputy manager at West Farm, said: “It was wonderful to invite Deborah to entertain residents from outside of the home. Her performance brought great big smiles to faces all around me and the residents loved every song she sang. It’s been three months now since residents last saw their relatives in person so it’s getting really tough as, of course, residents are greatly missing their friends and family. Inviting Deborah to sing for the afternoon really lifted residents’ spirits and we especially enjoyed her renditions of Somewhere Over The Rainbow and The White Cliffs Of Dover.”
Sam Brydon, a resident at West Farm said: “I really loved watching Vera Lynn; she’s a long time favourite singer of mine and I’m a fan of all of her songs. It was great to watch the performance and I even enjoyed a little dance with other residents and carers too.”
