The weather has been so lovely lately and our residents at Cramlington House have been making the most of it!
We’ve spent several warm, sunny afternoons in our beautiful garden, painting a range of rocks and stones collected from previous trips out down the seaside or park. Residents have been using various different colours to decorate rocks with many wanting to paint rainbow rocks given how much the rainbow is a strong symbol of hope and optimism during the current coronavirus pandemic we’re all facing.
Angela Heighton, one of our care assistants at Cramlington House, said: “Despite what’s happening in the wider world, it’s been really important to continue with our range of engaging activities as much as we can.
“Painting and the sunshine have a lot in common – they help to relax the mind, reduce anxiety and raise levels of inner happiness naturally so when you put them together they’re a very strong force in the mental and emotional wellbeing of residents.
“It’s also great physically too as residents exercise their fine motor skills through the careful and delicate use of a paintbrush and these skills are vital for maintaining independence as long as possible.”
We hope you enjoy the beautiful rocks the residents have spent time on to ensure they are looking very pretty, sitting in our garden. They really enjoyed the tranquil and relaxing afternoon and we are looking forward to a long hot summer so we can do lots more outside painting in the sun.
