Yesterday marked Random Acts of Kindness Day – a day where the kindness of people who go above and beyond are celebrated. In honour of the day, we wanted to tell you how our amazing team go that extra mile to ensure residents are happy and smile every day!
Of course, as a carer and a Craig Healthcare employee, being kind to all goes without saying but there are lots of examples where our staff have really shown just how wonderfully caring they all are and how much of a close and loving bond they have with residents and their loved ones.
Recently, staff who work within Unit B at Cramlington House delivered a hot roast dinner to a resident’s wife’s front door! The resident’s wife always visits her husband every Sunday to enjoy his company over a lovely lunch. However, on this particular Sunday she was too poorly to visit so some of the team decided to surprise her and turned up on her door step with her weekly roast ready and waiting!
West Farm staff have also gone that little bit further to show how passionate they are about the residents they care for. Twin carers Yvonne and Joanne recently took two residents to see their children perform in a dance show that they were desperate to attend. It was so much fun and West Farm is now looking to make such an outing a regular trip involving more residents that would enjoy watching the shows.
At Craig Healthcare, we’re constantly focused on delivering highly personalised care 24/7. Each resident’s care plan is unique to them, to ensure their care needs are met. Staff at Cramlington House recently showed the ethos of the care we provide by organising a 3am birthday party for a resident who is often awake throughout the night. Our nightshift care team decorated a room, bought her a birthday cake and also delivered her a McDonald’s meal, which is her favourite treat! She had a lovely time and really enjoyed celebrating her birthday in a way that means the most to her.
Our MD, Lucy Craig said: “These are just a few examples of where our staff have exceeded the role and responsibilities of their job. Whether it’s shopping for residents in their free time, or fundraising to raise money for resident activities, the residents are always their priority, day in day out and we cannot fault their passion and dedication to their care. I’m so very proud of you all!”
