Summer is officially here and that can only mean one thing – our weekly day trips to Blyth’s beach huts have commenced!
Each summer, we hire a beach hut that’s situated on Blyth’s beach front. Whether it’s sunny or a cloudy day, the visit is fantastic for residents and their family and friends who get to enjoy some quality, precious time with one another away from Cramlington House or West Farm.
Kim Stubbs, our Wellbeing Champion at Cramlington House, said: “Our summer beach hut visits really are a highlight of the year. It’s such an amazing day. Residents can dip their toes in the sea, feel the sand on their feet and relax with their loved ones in the beach hut or go for a walk along the promenade. What they and their families especially love is speaking to those who stroll by, saying hello and chatting about the weather and the occasion. What’s more, we all get to enjoy the best fish and chips around!”
The weekly trips not only provide residents with an ideal opportunity to spend time with their family and friends away from their usual environment, but they also help them to keep their links with local community life. This type of activity offers a break from the everyday caring routine, increases social interaction and promotes a sense of belonging which is a key element of the care provided by Craig Healthcare.
