Our residents at Cramlington House recently enjoyed a calming experience through massage therapy and sensory stimulation. Relaxed in a quiet and calm room, residents soaked their hands in soothing water beads, supported by carers. This sensory massage allowed their fingers to glide through colourful orbs, providing a sense of grounding and tranquillity.
Kim Stubbs, our Wellbeing Champion at Cramlington House, said: “It’s heartwarming to see our residents unwind and feel at ease. The sensory experience not only helps alleviate physical discomfort but also brings emotional balance. They really enjoyed the relaxation which helps foster a sense of belonging and community.”
Research highlights that massage therapy reduces stress, promotes better sleep and enhances cognitive function. In activities like this, our residents benefit from the calming strokes and gentle touches of the massage, leaving them feeling rejuvenated. For those with limited mobility, this nurturing contact makes all the difference.
