One of the biggest worries about moving into a care home is a loss of independence and the opportunity to live your life as you wish. For example, such as popping to a local restaurant or pub for some food and drinks. It’s something we all take for granted in life but once that is taken away from you, you realise how important those activities are for your general wellbeing and overall mental health.
This is why at Craig Healthcare we are focused on ensuring residents live their lives as normally and safely as possible. At West Farm Care Centre, we recently took some residents out to a local pub, The Newton, in Heaton to enjoy a drink and meal.
Zahra Karimi, manager at West Farm, said: “Joan and Audrey had a wonderful time enjoying a good old-fashioned pub meal and a nice drink to polish it off too. They were really relaxed and happy and enjoyed being in the pub with other people and socialising together too. Such outings are a critical part of the care we provide at West Farm as they provide many benefits to residents in terms of their mental and social health. What a brilliant time and we’re looking forward to the next outing.
