We’ve enjoyed some gorgeous sunny days lately as summer fast approaches, with residents enjoying spending more time outdoors, relaxing outside in the garden either reading, playing a game or chatting with staff or among themselves.
Recently, they were treated to a lovely surprise with the sound of the ice cream van doing its rounds nearby West Farm in the surrounding housing estate. To their sheer delight, carers escorted those residents who really fancied a 99 treat, where they purchased an ice cream of their choice.
Kirsty White, one of our carers at West Farm, said: “It was a lovely warm afternoon and many residents were out in the courtyard enjoying the seasonal weather while relaxing following a busy morning of activities. All of a sudden, we could all hear the familiar chimes of the ice cream van and an air of excitement rang around the garden! A few residents really wanted to go and buy one, so we got ourselves sorted and took a short walk to the waiting van. What scrumptious ice cream it was too.”
It was such a highlight of the afternoon; we are now looking forward to the ice cream van man paying us a visit every week throughout the summer!
