Holywell House recently celebrated Care Home Open Week with a number of events and activities and what a week it was! The week is all about opening your doors to the local community and our staff at Holywell organised a very lovely week!
It kicked off with an entertainment day featuring local singer Michael Stevens, who delighted residents and their families with his performance. Given the warmer weather, residents also took place is some ball games hugely benefiting from the physical activity and social interaction.
Other activities included musical bingo and a sponsored walk where residents, staff and family members enjoyed a summer stroll around the local area and a very exciting visit from the ice cream lady. The week ended with an organised BBQ and a family an friends prize drawer which brought everyone together and was opened by the local mayor of Blyth.
Holywell House’s manager Julie McMurrough said: “It was an absolutely fantastic week and we loved welcoming members of the local community into our home so that they could see what residents do and are involved with in our care. We raised over £1,000 across the week which is fabulous and will go towards our residents fund to pay for special days out and specific care activities. Huge thank you to everyone who visited – it was great to meet so many new faces too.”
