October was anything but quiet at Holywell Care Home, as residents and staff entered into a month packed with creativity, laughter, and community spirit. From pumpkin carving to spooky storytelling, the highlight of the season was undoubtedly their entry into the annual Holywell Scare Trail.
This year, the residents unveiled “Holywaves with Horace, the Holywell Hooker,” a nautical-themed scare installation that reeled in plenty of attention. Inspired by the eerie tales of fishermen lost at sea, Horace was a hauntingly charming character with seaside additions to the display, crafted by staff and residents alike.
Activities didn’t stop at the scare trail. October also saw residents enjoying autumnal crafts, baking seasonal treats, and hosting a Halloween tea party. Staff organized storytelling sessions where residents shared their own spooky tales and memories of Halloweens past, sparking laughter and nostalgia throughout the home.
Home Manager Julie McMurrough shared, “It’s incredible to see how much joy these activities bring. The Scare Trail is a favourite, as is all the crafts we do. It gets everyone involved and really shows off the talent and imagination we have here. Horace was a hit, and the residents loved watching him come to life.”
As the leaves fall and the chill sets in, Holywell Care Home continues to be a place where creativity thrives and community spirit shines. With Horace the Hooker now retired until next year, the team is already dreaming up their next big adventure.
