Audrey Whittam is one of residents who lives at Cramlington House and she recently received a surprise visit from her sister who lives on the other side of the world in Australia!
They haven’t seen each other in 10 years but the reaction on both Audrey’s and her sister, Anne’s face was priceless. What makes it even more endearing is that Audrey is living with dementia and her sister was a bit nervous ahead of the visit as did worry if Audrey would recognise her.
However, her worries completely disappeared when, just after a couple of seconds, Audrey’s face lit up and she was delighted to be reunited with her sister after so many years apart.
Sara Kaur, one of our Senior Carers at Cramlington House said: “I feel totally blessed to witness this reunion – it really was truly magical! At first, in the first few seconds, Audrey didn’t recognise Anne but then she realised and that moment, oh that moment, was absolutely amazing – a huge smile appeared across her face as she embraced her sister.”
