On Friday 20 March, we celebrated the Persian New Year with residents and care staff alike!
Our acting manager at West Farm, Zahra, is Persian, and it was really important to recognise this day of celebration, not just for Zahra but also for the residents too and their learning and exploration of other cultures and countries.
As part of the celebrations, residents and care staff enjoyed some cake and party food. Zahra also chatted to everyone about Persia, key aspects of its culture and how life in Persia compares to life in the UK.
Zahra also received a wonderful and heart-warming surprise today with residents wishing her ‘Happy New Year’ in Persian. They had secretly practised this during the week, so Zahra was equally surprised and impressed at the same time!
Talking about the celebrations, Zahra said: “It was lovely to celebrate a day that’s personally very special to me and what made it even better was hearing the residents wish me a very happy new year in Persian. Everyone really got involved in the day, smiling and laughing and enjoying the celebratory mood. Thank you to everyone at West Farm, it was great to see everyone happy, upbeat and relaxed.”
