The gentlemen of Cramlington House have enjoyed a lovely visit this week to Bedlington golf club.
While there as well as watching some of the club’s members play a bit of golf, they enjoyed a delicious fish and chip lunch and also took part in a general knowledge quiz.
Our residents were also able to invite their partners and other family members so it was great to see them spend some quality time with their loved ones away from their usual care setting.
Kim Stubbs, our wellbeing champion at Cramlington House, said: “We all had such a fabulous relaxing time at Bedlington golf club this week. It was great to see some residents enjoy time with their loved ones and lovely to share stories, jokes and general conversation.
“Our lunch was spot on too and the residents really enjoyed it. After our lunch, we took part in a general knowledge quiz and I was so impressed by the facts our residents know. I would have needed to do a Google search on my phone to get the majority of the answers!
They did really well, and it was great to see such a high level of focus and interaction with the quiz.”
Quizzes and other mental exercises such as wordsearches are really beneficial activities for residents to do because it stimulates their brain, improves their concentration and encourages them to want to achieve something, no matter how small it may seem.
Maxine Young, wife of one of our resident’s Tommy, accompanied us at the golf club, added: “It was so lovely to enjoy time with my husband outside of Cramlington House.
“In fact, I almost forgot we lived apart as that’s what we enjoyed doing before he moved into the home – going out for lunch together. My invite was very much appreciated; thank you.”
