At Cramlington House, a group of residents have formed what we like to call the ‘Gentlemen’s Club’ where they get together regularly to play dominoes and other classic games. This club offers much more than just an enjoyable way to pass the time – it brings a sense of community and purpose. The simple joy of playing dominoes is paired with friendly conversation, snacks and the occasional non alcoholic pint, making it a relaxing yet stimulating activity.
Wellbeing Champion Kim Stubbs said: “It’s wonderful to see the residents coming together, not just to play a game but to share stories, jokes and build friendships. The games bring back happy memories and the laughter that fills the room is a testament to how much these sessions mean to them.”
Engaging in activities like dominoes helps maintain cognitive skills and fine motor abilities, which are especially important as we age. But perhaps the biggest benefit of all is the friendship and connection. The Gentlemen’s Club has become a cherished part of their routine, proving that the joy of games and good company never gets old.
