At Holywell House our residents have been enjoying two particularly popular activities: the Gentleman’s Club and flower arranging sessions. These activities not only provide entertainment but also foster a sense of community and wellbeing.
The Gentleman’s Club at Holywell House offers a space for male residents to come together, socialise and engage in games. The club recently featured a lively game of dominos, which brought company and happiness to those residents who took part. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and friendly competition as residents enjoyed the strategic challenges of the game.
Our manager at Holywell House, Julie McMurrough, said: “The Gentleman’s Club is a wonderful initiative that allows our male residents to bond over shared interests. It’s heart warming to see the friendships that form and the enjoyment that these sessions bring.”
In a separate but equally engaging activity, residents have been participating in flower arranging sessions. This creative hobby allows residents to express their artistic side while enjoying the calming effects of working with beautiful blooms. The sessions are designed to be therapeutic, helping residents to relax and focus on the simple pleasure of arranging flowers.
Julie said: “Flower arranging is more than just a pastime; it’s a therapeutic activity that promotes mindfulness and relaxation. Our residents take great pride in their creations and it’s a joy to see their faces light up with accomplishment.”
Providing a range of activities is crucial for the wellbeing of our residents. These activities not only offer entertainment but also improve mental health, develop social connections and provide a sense of purpose.
