At Craig Healthcare, we believe in the importance of keeping our residents’ minds as active as their bodies. Recently, our residents at West Farm have enjoyed taking part in a variety of brain training activities designed to stimulate cognitive function and encourage social interaction.
Board games, such as Snakes and Ladders and Scrabble, have become a favourite pastime among our residents and it’s wonderful to see. These classic games are not only enjoyable but also serve as excellent tools for mental exercise. Residents engage in friendly competition, enhancing their memory, strategy skills and even vocabulary through regular gameplay.
Zara Karimi, our manager at West Farm, said: “The concentration and joy on their faces highlight the positive impact of these activities. “These activities really are more than just games, they play a vital role in our holistic approach to care. By incorporating fun and engaging mental exercises into our daily routine, we help our residents maintain cognitive function, boost their mood, and develop a sense of community.”
In addition to board games, residents also participate in other brain-stimulating activities such as puzzles and word games, further contributing to their cognitive wellbeing. These activities not only provide mental stimulation but also offer opportunities for social engagement, making every day enjoyable and meaningful.
