‘Dinging’ a Song!

Residents at West Farm Care Home enjoyed a lively and inspiring “Dinging Session” this week, led by Equal Arts, an organisation dedicated to bringing creative arts experiences to communities across the North East.

The session gave residents the chance to explore music in a fun and interactive way, using a variety of percussion instruments and objects to create rhythm and sound together. Everyone was encouraged to participate at their own pace, whether tapping out a beat, shaking a tambourine, or joining in with guided exercises. The result was an uplifting atmosphere filled with laughter, energy, and the shared enjoyment of music.

These creative sessions are about more than just making noise, they offer meaningful stimulation, helping residents to express themselves and connect with others through rhythm and sound.

Staff were on hand to support residents throughout the session, ensuring everyone felt included and confident in their participation. The flexible and informal nature of the activity meant that even those who were initially hesitant could quickly find a role, whether leading a rhythm, following along, or simply enjoying the music being created around them.

At West Farm, creative arts activities like the Dinging Session play a vital role in promoting wellbeing. They provide opportunities for mental stimulation, social interaction, and emotional expression, all in a supportive and inclusive environment. For residents, these sessions are also a chance to step outside the routine of daily life and engage with something fresh and enjoyable.

By combining creativity, interaction, and fun, West Farm Care Home continues to foster an environment where residents can thrive emotionally, socially, and mentally, ensuring that each day brings new moments of joy and inspiration.
