Residents at Cramlington House recently spent the afternoon decorating mini chocolate cakes, turning the activity into a relaxed and engaging event. The room was set up with trays of cupcakes, bowls of whipped cream, melted chocolate and sprinkles, offering everything needed to get creative.
Residents carefully added cream, drizzled chocolate and topped their cakes with sprinkles and white chocolate chips. For many, the task brought back memories of baking and family gatherings, sparking conversations and stories.
Kim Stubbs, our Wellbeing Champion at Cramlington House, said, “Activities like this go beyond fun, they help with motor skills, build social connections and boost confidence. There’s also a real sense of pride in making something yourself.”
The activity encouraged residents to interact and share moments with each other, creating a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere. The tactile aspect of decorating engaged their senses, while the group setting fostered conversation and laughter.
One resident, smiling as she admired her work, said, “I can’t wait to try these. It reminds me of baking with my grandkids.” Simple, hands-on activities like this show how meaningful experiences can be created through shared creativity and connection.
