Residents at West Farm Care Centre recently embraced their artistic side during a special session with the Equal Arts team, using foliage and natural materials from the home’s garden to create beautiful pictures.
The activity combined creativity with the outdoors, encouraging residents to explore textures, colours and shapes while producing unique pieces of artwork inspired by nature.
Leaves, flowers and greenery collected from the garden became the building blocks for a range of imaginative designs, with residents enjoying the opportunity to express themselves and experiment with different ideas.
Creative sessions provide much more than artistic enjoyment. They help stimulate memories, encourage conversation and promote a sense of achievement, while also supporting emotional wellbeing and social interaction.
Throughout the session, residents shared stories about gardening, favourite flowers and memories of time spent outdoors with family and friends. These conversations added another layer of enjoyment to the experience.
Equal Arts specialises in bringing creative opportunities to older people and those living with dementia, helping individuals connect through art and meaningful activities.
The finished pieces were displayed around the home, allowing residents, relatives and visitors to admire the colourful results and celebrate the creativity on show.
Activities such as these are an important part of life at West Farm Care Centre, ensuring residents have opportunities to enjoy enriching experiences while continuing to explore new interests.
