Residents at West Farm have enjoyed a lovely cream tea afternoon this week.
Our chef worked hard in the kitchen, making lots of delicious scones and cakes. The delightful treats were served alongside tea and coffee, while resident enjoyed a natter with carers, their families over FaceTme, or watched some of their favourite TV programmes.
Zahra Karimi, our deputy manager at West Farm, said: “While afternoon cream teas are usually enjoyed between residents and their loved ones, we know how much residents look forward to them and benefit from the experience so we have continued to arrange them, with loved ones taking part virtually at times.”
Residents have enjoyed sitting down with a cuppa and scone or cupcake and calling their children or partners who are also doing the same at home. While enjoying a catch up, others have wanted to speak to carers on a one to one basis or preferred to relax watching a film or programme they enjoy.
Zahra added: “The benefits of our afternoon tea sessions are still clear to see. For those speaking to their loved ones via video calls, they’re more relaxed and upbeat following the call knowing that we are hopefully getting closer to in person visits. Also, it’s clear that sometimes a cup of tea and sweet treat while watching a much-loved film or TV show does wonders too with residents happier and more buoyant as a result.”
