Residents and staff at Cramlington House came together for a special afternoon tea to mark Dignity Day.
Tables were set with china cups and tiered stands filled with sandwiches, scones and sweet treats, creating a relaxed setting for everyone to sit down and enjoy each other’s company. Staff took time out of their usual routines to chat with residents, listen to their stories, and share a few laughs.
Wellbeing Champion Kim Stubbs said: “Dignity is about making time for people. It’s about showing them they matter, not just through what we say, but through what we do. Sitting with residents, sharing a cuppa and having a proper conversation – that’s what makes the difference.”
The home was decorated with positive messages to reflect the theme of the day, and many staff wore red to show their support. The event brought everyone together and gave residents the chance to relax, connect and feel valued.
Kim added: “These moments are important. They lift people’s spirits and remind us why we do what we do.”
Dignity Day is a national initiative that encourages care settings to put dignity at the heart of everything. At Cramlington House, it’s a value that runs through daily life but this event was a chance to highlight it in a way that felt special.
