We’ve had a wonderful time this week making cards and doing jigsaws. Such activities have a plethora of physical, mental, and social health benefits for residents. For example, they exercise their fine motor skills that are vital for maintaining independence, they help to calm and relax the mind. These activities also help to engage the brain to concentrate on a focused task for a period of time.
Zahra Karimi, our manager at West Farm, said: “We absolutely love these kinds of activities at West Farm. The residents are really keen to take part in card making and doing jigsaws and it’s great to have a room full of happy, smiling faces. Both activities really do work wonders for the physical and mental wellbeing of residents. Sometimes on a cold and rainy afternoon, there’s nothing better than a hot cup of tea and completing a 1,000 piece jigsaw!”
