We’ve had lots of fun and games this week from domino playing to jigsaw making and biscuit baking!
The residents love these kinds of activities which provide so many wonderful benefits, physically and mentally. The baking is especially good for fine motor skills, which are needed to tie shoelaces or do up buttons and help to maintain independence.
Doing jigsaw puzzles and playing dominos are good physically but especially great for cognitive development because they are mentally stimulating and exercise the brain to keep it healthy and active.
Zahra Karimi, our manager at West Farm, said: “Games and baking biscuits are definitely up there in our list of favourite things to do! It’s amazing to see how much the residents get from it and we love seeing the relaxed and happy smiles on their faces. The activities are stimulating and engaging but also provide a way for residents to wind down. There’s nothing better than a tense finisher in a game of dominos or a race against time to get the jigsaw completed!”
