West Farm residents enjoyed a lovely trip to a local art gallery recently, soaking in the amazing collection of art that was on display.
There are lots of benefits for residents in visiting art galleries including increased interaction as well as comfort and ease within a social situation. Evidence also shows that art increases cognitive abilities for those living with dementia and helps to develop an improved quality of life.
Sarah Jane Avery, our wellbeing champion at West Farm, said: “It was such a lovely afternoon; we viewed lots of stunning collections and the residents were intrigued and engaged throughout.
“Art plays an important role in the care of our residents in all its forms. Painting is one art that many residents are fond of and I think we are going to attempt to recreate some of the classic pieces we have seen today!
“After a relaxing stroll around the gallery, we took a little break to enjoy some pizza and a nice cup of coffee. It was lovely to see how content residents were appreciating the wonderful art and those in their company. We will definitely be returning!”
