If you can recall, as part of our first awareness day on Dignity Day, we held a poetry competition, inviting you all to get your creative thinking caps on and write a beautiful poem or two that explains what dignity means to you.
Entry was open to residents, staff members, family, friends and visitors of residents. We were overwhelmed with the number and quality of entries, thank you so much to each and every one of you who took the time to put pen to paper and submit your wonderful words!
Given it is World Poetry Day today, we thought it was a good time to announce the winner…
Judged by Emma Adamson, safeguarding facilitator at North Tyneside Council, it was an extremely tough decision to make, but FIRST PLACE goes to Pat Bird, the daughter of West Farm resident Evelyn Martin for this amazing poem!
We felt everyone could relate to this poem, and it really hit home what dignity means to everyone, young, old and in between. Thank you, Pat for the very personal and heartfelt ode that everyone could understand and identify with. We hope you enjoy your prize!
