The passion we have for care goes above and beyond. Every single resident that moves into our homes is treated with the utmost respect, dignity and, most important of all, love. Even if a resident joins us nearer the end of their life, we ensure our palliative care is of the highest standard and resident-focused.
The family of the residents are so important too and we fully engage with them about their loved one no matter how small or insignificant what we tell them may seem. To them, it’s paramount and we understand and empathise with them and appreciate that they simply want their relative cared for and loved as much as their own family loves them.
Last year, Barrie Long moved into Holywell House Care Centre. He arrived needing palliative care and our staff did everything they could to make his final months as comfortable as possible. We looked after his family members as much as we could too. Following his passing, his daughter Mandy Pannu and wife, Sandra, sent staff the most beautiful cards with the most thoughtful words in them.
Julie McMurrough, our manager at Holywell House, said: “When we receive such kind words as we did from Mandy and Sandra, it means the absolute world to us. It shows that we really are making a difference not just to our residents’ lives but to the lives of their family members too. It also demonstrates how much we genuinely and truly care for and love our residents no matter how long they live with us.
“We don’t judge, we don’t expect and we don’t criticise. We simply devote our time and skills to looking after our residents the best we can, ensuring their needs are met every single day, whether that’s their physical, emotional or social needs. We’re here to make their lives better, make them feel true happiness and contentment and make them smile, always. Thank you to Sandra and Mandy, you’re kind and thoughtful words means so much.”
