West Farm residents were super excited to see a dementia friendly showing of the new film release, Judy, a Judy Garland biopic.
They were thrilled with the film and actively engaged throughout, getting a detailed insight into the life of the famous performer Judy Garland. Before the film started, residents enjoyed a hot drink and a slice of cake and then settled down at Tyneside Cinema to watch it.
Sarah Jane Avery, our wellbeing champion at West Farm, said: “It was definitely worth the trip to see Judy; the residents absolutely loved it! The film stirred up a range of emotions from residents and provided a topic of conversation for the days that followed, with residents telling everyone about it and also discussing it between themselves.
“Watching a film associated with a classic popular public figure in the relevant era also helps residents to recall and reconnect with past memories, which is an important element of their care, as well as create new ones. We would like to say a big thank you to Tyneside Cinema for providing such a relaxed screening that worked wonderfully for our residents. We are already planning our next trip to the movies!”
