Cramlington House residents were treated to a delightful visit from Smile Through Sport, an organisation dedicated to promoting physical activity and wellbeing to people of all abilities. During the visit, the residents had the opportunity to participate in a range of armchair exercises, providing both mental and physical stimulation.
Our activities coordinator Kim Stubbs said: “Engaging in armchair exercises offers numerous benefits to our residents. Physically, it helps improve mobility, flexibility, and muscle strength, enhancing their overall physical wellbeing. Regular exercise also contributes to better cardiovascular health and can help manage chronic conditions such as arthritis. Beyond the physical advantages, armchair exercises also have a positive impact on mental health. The best bit about the sessions is that they take place in a group setting which fosters social interaction and a sense of community, combating loneliness and promoting a positive atmosphere within the home. The visit from Smile Through Sport and the armchair exercises provided a wonderful opportunity for our residents to engage in physical activity, improve their mental wellbeing, and enjoy a sense of camaraderie. It was a great afternoon!”
