Holywell House recently received an extra special visit recently from Jess McConnell, a local entertainer who lit up the entire room at Holywell!
Jess is a well-known singing impersonator and comedian, and the residents absolutely loved him! He put on a great show, singing lots of songs our residents are familiar with. Listening and singing along to songs and music residents can readily identify with is really important to their cognitive development, especially for those residents living with dementia. This is because it helps to connect with old memories and create new memories at the same time. There was so much emotion in the room and it was wonderful to see residents so engaged and thoroughly enjoying themselves alongside their relatives who we also invited in to see Jess and spend time some quality time with their loved ones.
