Thank you to everyone who came along to our Easter fair over the weekend! It was wonderful to see everyone together again, enjoying the sunshine and each other’s company.
As you know, we opened in 2020 during the Covid pandemic so we’ve never been able to put any events on or organise big celebrations for occasions like the long Easter weekend, so this fair really was extra special. We even invited Alfie Dobson along who kept us suitably entertained with some great classics, that got everyone involved singing and dancing.
We organised a huge raffle with some amazing prizes that included a two night stay in a two-bedroom lodge in Felton, near Morpeth, a meal for two at The Keel Row pub in Seaton Delaval and other prizes such as chocolate, gin and shopping vouchers.
Julie McMurrough, our manager at Holywell House, said: “It was amazing to see families together again, enjoying the sunshine and entertainment.
“The smiles on everyone’s faces were clear to see and, despite the restrictions care homes faced for such a long time, we are so pleased to be able to organise important occasions like the Easter fair again, safely.
“We raised an incredible £1,000 which will be used to help renovate the patio area at our home so that residents can make the most of the outdoor space as the light nights and warmer weather set in. We’ve already received donations of picket fencing, a green house and new wooden garden bench which we are incredibly grateful for.
“Alfie sang some great classics that got everyone involved, singing and dancing, as we all appreciated enjoying one another’s company again.
“Well done to the raffle winners too – we hope you enjoy your prizes and a huge thank you to everyone who donated the prizes too.”
