We absolutely love our specially made pub at Cramlington House. Residents enjoy spending time in the pub, socialising, playing darts, enjoying a range of tasty nonalcoholic beer, wine and lager as well as some traditional pub grub too.
One of the activities we especially love is playing bingo in the bar. It brings back a lot of happy memories for our residents of when they used to play bingo before moving in with us, with their friends and family either down at the local pub or bingo hall.
Kim Stubbs, our activities manager at Cramlington House, said: “We totally love playing bingo – some of our residents are very good at it! Games like bingo are great for residents’ care not just from a social wellbeing perspective but in terms of cognitive development too.
“Bingo for example can improve the brain’s processing speeds, alertness, and memory capabilities. Bingo requires players to be skillful listeners and to have the ability to look for numbers quickly, many times across multiple cards – and we definitely have some bingo stars here at Cramlington House!”
“Bingo also helps with hand and eye coordination and help residents keep their dexterity as due to the fast and repetitive nature of the game, to play it you need sharp reflexes. You can’t beat a game of bingo here at Cramlington House and within all of our homes actually. Someone somewhere is always enjoying a game.”
