As proud winners of a Better Health at Work award, the health and wellbeing of our team is extremely important to us.
This week, we’re focused on workplace wellbeing. Our aim is to raise awareness of the importance of workplace physical and mental health during the summer months and communicate this effectively to all members of staff.
Loraine Brunton, our General Manager, said: “We’re making our communication around workplace wellbeing this summer extremely fun and interactive with lots going on including visits from miniature donkeys, a limbo pole which is definitely not easy but very entertaining, a mocktail bar, a BBQ spread plus lots of other things too.
“Our campaign will cover many areas including drugs and alcohol abuse/reliance, cancer awareness, mental health and anxiety symptoms and feelings as well as the importance of healthy happy and safe relationships, both physical and emotional.”
So far this week, Suzanne Doney, Northumberland Community Cancer Awareness Co-ordinator, has given an in-depth talk on cancer, what symptoms to watch out for, how to deal with it if you’re personally affected by cancer or a close family member or friend is and how, as your employer, we can help you during this difficult time.
At the end of the week, every single member of the team will receive a goodie bag packed full of very helpful items donated by companies such as Johnson and Johnson and Yorkshire Tea that include mental health kits and free contraception.
Loraine added: “As well as raising awareness of all aspects of our wellbeing this summer, we also want to explain to our staff that we are here to support, advise and guide them through any workplace or home life difficulties and challenges as much as we can. Your workplace support network really is just as important as the personal support provided by family and friends. I am looking forward to all the events we have got lined up this week, including our quiz night!”
