West Farm have been hands on today in making lots of wonderful shapes out of salt dough. Using their creative and practical skills, they’ve produced some excellent creations including stars, circles and even snakes!
Sarah Avery, Our Wellbeing Champion at West Farm, said: “Making shapes out of salt dough is a fabulous activity for our residents that provides a wide range of wellbeing benefits.
“For example, it’s great for emotional wellbeing because it boosts mood and residents are very relaxed, although focused on the task at hand. Socially, it encourages residents to interact, co-operate with one another and discuss their designs among one another.
“Physically, it provides some excellent benefits as it really works fine motor skills which are vital to remaining independent. For example, fine motor skills are key to buttoning up a shirt or blouse, tying shoelaces, or eating with a knife and fork.
“The engagement of the residents was fantastic, and it was great to see them enjoy the salt dough shape making afternoon with happy and relaxed moods and some lovely handiwork!”
