#YouCanCare: Celebrating Carers

It’s National You Can Care Week and to raise awareness, we want to shout out to all those who may have not considered a career in care, to explain just why a care role could be the perfect profession for you.

There are many misconceptions about residential and dementia care and the role of carers, particularly within care homes. Of course, we are all aware of the challenges of the role and working in the care home sector, but there are also huge benefits to be gained in what is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world.

Becoming a carer should not be underestimated or under-minded. It’s not just about physically caring for someone vulnerable, but also providing them with the best level of emotional, mental and social care.

A carer is a friend, a confidante, a team player. They are very people focused, equipped with good communication skills while being able to empathise, understand and relate to residents who often have complex care needs.

Anyone who decides to apply to be a carer with us receives appropriate training on a continuous basis so that they are equipped with the appropriate knowledge and resources to fulfil the responsibilities of the role to the best of their ability. However, the raw skills needed to be a great carer can’t be taught; they are within a person and include qualities such as patience, kindness and selflessness.

Our care staff at Cramlington House and West Farm are truly inspiring. Each and every day their kind hearts, strong minds, and compassion, dedication and loving nature makes a big difference to the lives of our residents, helping them to lead healthier and happier lives.

If you think #YouCanCare, do let us know as we do have current vacancies across both Cramlington House and West Farm. For more information, please contact Emma Jones on 01670 591 930 or emma@cramlington-house.co.uk
