We’ve had a great time this week at Holywell House celebrating a resident’s 99th birthday!
We marked the milestone birthday of Doreen Dennis with a delicious birthday buffet and sang and danced the afternoon away. Doreen had a wonderful time enjoying the buffet spread, talking to carers and other residents but most of all LOVED the singing provided by Alfie Dobson.
Gemma Wilson, our manager at Holywell House, said: “It has been such an incredible feeling to invite one of our much-loved entertainers to our home, singing inside with residents again and giving them a party to remember! It’s been such a difficult year with us being unable to celebrate birthdays that are such an important aspect of our lives at all of our homes. Being able to celebrate Doreen’s birthday like we did pre Covid has been such an amazing feeling leaving a long-lasting high among staff and residents.
“Doreen had an absolute blast and there was an atmosphere within the home that I haven’t felt for a long time. Thank you to all members of staff who made this day so special for Doreen and huge thanks to Alfie Dobson too who sang some wonderful songs, helping residents to reminisce about years gone past and make some lovely new memories too.”
