Wow, how hot has it been recently? Who needs Spain when you have Costa Del North East!
Residents made the most of the good weather and enjoyed a visit to Bedlington Community Garden with Mind Active, a voluntary organisation that aims to improve the lives of older people living in residential care homes.
They enjoyed a spot of gardening in the shade, a lovely picnic lunch and a sing a long too. Gardening is a great mental boost, helping to make you feel happy and relaxed and it’s also a fantastic way to exercise fine motor skills which help to maintain independence for longer.
Kim Stubbs, our Cramlington House Wellbeing Champion, said: “We enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon at Bedlington Community Garden, a wonderful allotment for people to come together to socialise, do some gardening and learn new techniques. The staff who helped us throughout the session were amazing and the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Mind Active provided some great entertainment as well which got residents involved in a lovely little sing along. We are already looking forward to our next visit!”
