Both Cramlington House and West Farm Care Centre celebrated Mother’s Day in style today! (click on the videos to watch FaceTime in action above!)

Although families could not join in today, we ensured every single resident, especially mothers, enjoyed an extra special day. West Farm organised a party with lots of lovely treats including the most delicious homemade scones and cakes that were served in our very best china plates and cups.

Cramlington House also celebrated one of the most important days of the year and residents had their photo taken with the presents they had received from families who would normally be with them to celebrate the occasion. FaceTime has also been vital during this time as relatives were able to wish their mum a very happy and safe Mother’s Day.

Sarah Jane Avery, our wellbeing champion at West Farm, said: “We massively realise that this Mother’s Day is rather bittersweet.

“Families are desperate to see their mums, their aunties and their grandmas but they know how much of a health risk it is at the moment given the current coronavirus outbreak. We organised a lovely party, enjoyed lots of interaction and it was great to see all the smiles and hear the laughter.

“We even FaceTimed some relatives so they could see and chat to their loved ones who wanted to wish them a very happy Mother’s Day. Thank goodness we have the wonders of technology!”

Marion Rose, a resident at West Farm said: “I know I couldn’t see my children today or any of my family, but the carers have made me feel even more special than usual. They have made a huge effort to ensure all us mams enjoy the occasion and we’ve managed to speak to them and see them through the phone. I really did have a most lovely day and enjoyed the music and nice food too.”
